Impro Helsinki is a school for long form improvisation. This means that in our classes you will get to know the art of improvisational theatre, starting from the core skills (of co-operation, listening, acceptance, connection) and continuing to explore scene work, different formats and creating fully improvised performances. CLASS LANGUAGE: ENGLISH
No previous experience of improvised theatre needed!
Are you interested in learning improvised theatre? This is a great place to start!
In our foundations class we will be doing just that, giving you a foundation from which you can begin your improv journey!
We will be concentrating on things such as communication, collaboration, acceptance, building characters and scenes.
We will get a taste of how to create an improvised theatre performance through the use of formats.
Come enjoy, learn and have fun together!
Ps. If you are looking to try improv in English, this is a great and creative way to become more brave in your speaking!

DIGGING DEEPER

Thursdays from 17.30-19.30

CLASS LANGUAGE: ENGLISH
This class is for improvisers with some previous experience such as fundamentals course in Impro Helsinki
In this course we will examine and practice working together as a group (ensemble). We will also look at individual strenghts and areas for growth all while exploring different techniques for telling stories (creating scenes) together.
Each week we will practice sharpening our skills in grounding the scene, exploring voice and perspectives of our characters and following the inspiration, much of which will be practiced through scene work and play. This course also includes 3 live show opportunities to practice our skills in front of an audience. First two performances are demo-shows in the classroom on Thursdays (exact dates TBD) and the last show is on a Sunday, May 3rd.
Course payment 135€/month (incl. 25,5% VAT)
No class: Feb 19th (winter break) / April 30th (Vappu eve)

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Fundamentals class / Digging deeper: You will pay the registration fee 35€ when signing up to the class on our online store. This will have you automatically enrolled in the class. The registration fee of 35€ will be deducted from the total of course fee. REGISTRATION IS BINDING and you will be required to pay for the whole course.
There are no classes held on fall break (week 42), winter break (week 8), Easter Monday, Eve of Vappu (April 30th), May 1st, May 14th (Ascension Day). The end of year break is between December 19th and January 11th and no classes are held during the break
If the student has to be absent from the class, Impro Helsinki will not compensate the student for the missed class
If Impro Helsinki has to cancel a class, we reserve the right to cancel one class without compensation during the semester (September-December & January-May). That is, if the teacher is sick, the session will not be replaced at another time nor will there be monetary compensation. If it is necessary to cancel more than one course session, the teacher informs the course participants either of a substitute teacher OR uses one of the make-up-days to replace the course session

The replacement day for the course session is decided by the teacher, who informs the students in advance

NOTE: We are concentrating on both comedic and dramatic theatrical improvisation.

This training is not for the improvisers who want to do comedy exclusively!

PERFORMANCES:

Fundamentals: No performances, a possible demo in May during class
Digging Deeper: TBA (at the same time with class) & May 3rd showcase

AMOUNT OF STUDENTS:

8-14 (Impro Helsinki reservers the right to cancel the class if the minimum amount of participants wont be reached)

WORKSHOP SPACE:

The course will be held in Ruoholahti, close to public transportation.
There is a kitchen from where you can get water from, and store/ heat up your snacks if you'd like to bring one for you
